Shelfmates is a weekly movie puzzle from Tuesday Night Movie Night, operated by Tuesday Night LLC (“we”). This page explains what information is involved when you play and what we do with it.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We don’t ask for your name, email or any other personal details to play.
- Your game progress and stats are saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
- We don’t currently use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Information stored on your device
To remember your picks, guesses, results and streak, the game saves a small record in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and isn’t sent to us. You can erase it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings; doing so resets your progress and streak.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives standard technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Movie posters are loaded directly from The Movie Database (TMDB), so TMDB also receives that standard request information when the images load. See TMDB’s privacy policy.
Sharing your results
The Share button copies your result to your clipboard or opens your device’s share menu. Nothing is sent to us; what you share and where is up to you.
Links to other sites
The game links to JustWatch and IMDb so you can find where to watch each movie. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which apply once you leave Shelfmates.
Children
Shelfmates is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
Because we don’t collect personal information through the game, there’s usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete; your saved progress lives in your browser and is yours to clear. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or state laws like California’s CCPA. Contact us with any request or question and we’ll respond as those laws require.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site works, for example by adding analytics or advertising, we’ll update this page and the date above before those changes take effect.
